Photographer
Maeve McWhinney is a photographer based in Concord, MA. She is the Founder & Creative Director of the 1780 House. Maeve earned her BA in English Literature from Wellesley College, and her Ed.M in Human Development & Psychology from Harvard University. A former classical ballet dancer, an avid traveler, and mother of four children, Maeve and her husband recently completed an extensive renovation of the historic 1780 House, creating an art gallery and meeting space in the heart of Concord.
Maeve is a visual storyteller and archivist who looks to document history and stories through her art. Her work includes portraiture, landscape and still life photographs. Maeve plays with nostalgia in her art, always looking to capture the beauty and emotions of the past, and often presenting them in a modern way. Whether it be capturing childhood moments, historical landscapes, or physical spaces, Maeve’s art often looks to dichotomies and tensions to tell the stories of our lives.
"I'm nostalgic by nature. As a photographer, I try to document people, places, or emotion in ways in which many of us can relate. The art that I want to create, and the stories that I want to tell, are the ones that are universal, nostalgic, or evoke feeling in some way."
